DWCL GOVERNANCE AND ORGANIZATION (effective SY 2008-2009)
The Divine Word College of Laoag is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees in which is vested the corporate powers of the DWCL Corporation. It is the major policy determining body of the College and the final authority in its administration. The board exercises general supervision, has exclusive control and direction of school funds, prescribes policies, makes rules and regulations and establishes practices not inconsistent with law for the governance and direction of the school.
The day-to-day management of the school rests with the President who is considered its Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for the efficient, effective, and orderly operations of the school as well as the implementation of the governing board’s policies. He is assisted by four Vice Presidents who are tasked with the policy implementation in the two major areas of school operations, to wit:
Academic – which bears directly on the teaching or instructional activity and on research and extension or public service, including other indispensable teaching/instructional services relating to student registration, library services, guidance counseling, and other similar functions.
Administrative – which supports all other functions and responsibilities of the school subordinate to those of the school head and which do not fall under the specific domain of academic work (Par. 70, 1971 edition of the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools).
The DWCL organization is thus organized into five major units: (1) The Office of the President, (2) the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and (3) the Office of the Vice President for Administration., (4) Office of the Vice President for Finance and (5) Office of the Vice President for Religious Affairs.
