The Human Resource Office and the School of Education sponsored a seminar on Classroom Management held at the Divine Word College of Laoag, High School AVR, Laoag City on July 27, 2013.The participants of the seminar were the newly hired college faculty members who have neither BSEd nor professional education units.
HR Director, Reynaldo M. Lazo welcomed the participants and Dr. Glorietta B. Sabas, dean of the School of Education, explained the primary aim of the seminar – to equip them with the principles, skills and values in classroom management.
The seminar proper focused on two parts: Part I- Getting Ready to Teach and Part II- The Journey Inside the Classroom. There were five resource speakers who discussed the pertinent topics. Prof. Eleuberto A. Acedillo discussed on “Managing Classroom Activities Effectively” and was supported by the talk of Atty. Maricet Buena G. Concepcion on “Implementing Supportive and Corrective Disciplinary Tactics”. The morning session ended with the discussion of Dr. Eduardo T. Borja on “Preparing and Use of Appropriate Instructional Materials”.
The afternoon session started with the topic, “Utilizing Varied and Effective Teaching Methodologies”, discussed by Prof. Estrella P. Apollo followed by Prof. Nimfa C. Catbagan who talked on “Preparing Traditional and Authentic Assessment Tools”. The seminar was concluded by a synthesis made by Dr. Editha B. Acidera.
