School of Education Outreach Program

An outreach activity dubbed as “Altar Server Training Program” was held at the Mother of Perpetual Help Quasi Parish in Pancian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte last August 9-10, 2014. The two-day undertaking was facilitated by students enrolled in the program, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Religious and Values Education. Cyrus Hayag, the president of the Education Students’ Association (EDSA) spearheaded the training and acted as lead trainer.

Thirty nine (39) boys (high school and elementary) from Barangay Pancian and the nearby barangays participated in the training on proper altar service. They were also oriented on the various liturgical rules and guidelines during the Holy Mass.

Immediately after their training, the participants were installed as Knights of the Altar during the mass officiated by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Dennis Buenafe, SVD. On hand to witness the occasion were the boys’ proud parents and parishioners.

Fr. Buenafe together with the parents and parishioners commended the efforts of the group and expressed their appreciation to everyone who supported the successful activity, particularly, Frather Arnulfo R. Fraga, SVD, Prof. Margarita Galat, Mr. Andres Manglallan and the Dean of the School of Education, Dr. Glorietta B. Sabas.
