The Orientation Program of the New Students – freshmen and transferees – took place on June 17, 2010 at the DWCL Theatre. The registration started at 7:30 AM and the program of activities officially started at 8:30 AM. There has been a delay in the schedule since the number of new students this year is greater compared to the previous years.
The program began with a prayer in the form of a song followed by the Philippine National Anthem. The Director of the Student Affairs Office, Prof. Patrick Esteban, welcomed the new students with a very inspiring message then the rationale of the program was explained by Prof. Geraldeen Pascual, the Guidance Counselor. The program included discussions about the different departments of the DWCL such as the Schools of DWCL, CSC, Registrar, CMO, Accounts, Library, Medical and SAO. In between the talks, several intermission numbers were presented by the Performing Arts Guilds and some new students as well. This part of the program made the students very lively and ready for the next set of speakers. The program ended with the singing of Welcome to the Family as a way of formally recognizing the new students as part of the DWCL family.
Overall, the orientation program is a success. The theatre was packed with the presence of the new students who seemed to have enjoyed and understood every part of the activity.
