The Divine Word College of Laoag-College Guidance Office (DWCL-CGO) held a month-long celebration for the National Womenโ€™s Month 2026 with the theme: โ€œLead like Babaylans, Filipinas!โ€.
The event, which culminated today, March 19, 2026, emphasized the empowerment of gender equality and an inclusive society.โ€
In her opening remarks, Guidance Counselor Griselda I. Pascua, MAPsy, MAGC, RGC, underscored the importance of embodying the spirit of the Babaylan in their leadership, wisdom, and compassion.
โ€œMay we carry within us the enduring spirit of [the] Babaylan, the courage to lead with conviction, the wisdom to inspire transformation, and the compassion to uplift and empower others,โ€ she said.
The celebration brought together the DWCL community through several contests that showcased creativity, advocacy, and cultural appreciation.
The Babaylan Look-Alike Contest was topped by Hannah Khate Ventura of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education (SASE), who also claimed all three minor awards, namely, the Best in Costume, Best in Portrayal, and the Fan Favorite Award.
Meanwhile, Haley Reigne Caluya of the same school secured second place and Raine Hyacinth Rivo of the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology claimed third.

The event also included a Zumba Wellness session for both students and employees yesterday, March 18.
Beyond competitions, the celebration featured the #GADtoKNOW Campaign, giving awareness to gender-responsive laws, programs, and services that feature women leadership, and the Purple Wednesdays, which encouraged students and staff to wear purple and show solidarity for gender equality.
