Divine Word College of Laoag DWCL
March 19, 2021 was a remarkable day to remember, as the DWCL community witnessed the launching of the school’s 75th foundation anniversary, and the celebration of the Eucharist for the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, husband of Mary.
These were held at the college gymnasium, at 9 in the morning. Notwithstanding the strict compliance of the health and safety standards related to the pandemic, faculty and staff of the school, together with the administration, gathered at the gym for the said celebration. Students joined virtually via live streaming on the DWCL FB page.
A short program for the launching started with the Provincial Superior of the SVD Philippine Northern Province, Rev. Fr. Romeo S. Fajardo, SVD, delivering his inspirational message virtually, followed by the declaration of the launching and start of the Jubilee Year, by the Father President – Rev. Fr. Gaudencio G.Pugat, SVD.
The Fr. President declared the official start of the Jubilee Year from March 19, 2021 until January 15, 2022. The logo and the theme of the Jubilee year were unveiled by Fr. Pugat and Bro. Raul Santos. Assisting Fr. Pugat and Bro. Santos were the following: Fr. Denny Lucas, Fr. Damianus Abun, Fr. Bernard Teneza, Fr. Edwin Fernandez, Fr. Cris Cancino, Fr. Louie Cris Gregorio, Bro. Joel Divinagracia, Dr. Gladys Basilio, the members of Alumni Board headed by Dr. Macario Salva, Mr. William Agcaoili, and Mr. Francisco Julian, the representative from the PTCA of the Basic Ed., Mrs. Josueda Galapon, Prof. Edna Cabillo and Mrs. Kristina Martin, Paul Lorenzo from the CSC and Christian Guillermo from the Williamite.
The Eucharistic celebration immediately followed, with Fr. Pugat as the main celebrant, together with the SVD confreres as co-celebrants. Serving of sumptuous snacks followed right after the mass.
