About the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program

Divine Word College of Laoag was granted by the Commission on Higher Education, the authority to implement the ETEEAP, as evidenced by the Certificate of Authorization given to the school dated May 19, 1999 signed by then Chairman of CHED Hon. Angel C. Alcala and Hon. Mona Dumlao-Valisno, then Commissioner of CHED and Program Chair of ETEEAP Hence, the school is hereby authorized to accredit, provide equivalency to, and/or certify the pertinent work experiences, knowledge or expertise acquired by individuals through formal, non-formal or informal means and to confer appropriate academic degrees in Liberal Arts, Education, Commerce and Civil Engineering. To date, DWCL is one of the 10 Higher Education Institutions in Region 1 granted to offer ETEEAP.

The first recipient of the program was an employee at the Government Service Insurance System, Laoag Office. He graduated in March of 2001 with the degree Bachelor of Science in Commerce. Since then, the school has granted the Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree to 44 individuals, 8 Bachelor of Arts degree, and 1 Bachelor of Secondary Education.

The school has in its rolls of internal and external assessors noted individuals in their respective fields of specialization. School officials and faculty members, representatives from professional organizations, government and non-government organizations, as well as consumer and industry representatives make up the Panel of Assessors. They are responsible in assessing and accrediting work experiences, knowledge or expertise of applicants prior to entering the program. Structurally, ETEEAP is under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. It has its office at Room 1A1, 1st floor, K-bldg, annex. This is manned by a full-time ETEEAP Coordinator. The office is provided with support services like a physical space for counseling and requisite facilities for the conduct of in-house assessment. Other learning resources and support facilities are provided.
