150th SVD DAY

“𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡”
𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝
September 8, 2025 marked the 150th Founding Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD)—a day honoring the SVD’s enduring mission and unwavering dedication to evangelization and service to the people. For more than a century, SVD missionaries in the Philippines have reached out to uplift communities, establish schools, foster social development, and nurture faith networks that continue to transform countless lives. Their commitment and outreach became a luminous example and inspiration not only in the country but also across the world.
As the Divine Word College of Laoag, Inc., joined the celebration, the community looked back with appreciation at how the SVD had built a strong legacy of education deeply rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service to others. The institution stood as one of the enduring contributions of the missionaries, shaping responsible leaders, dedicated professionals, and servant-hearted Divinians. 
This day reminded everyone of the call to continue living the SVD spirit as one family motivated by faith, love, and service. These endless passions of the SVD were upheld as guiding lights for daily life being the ‘Witnesses to the Word’. Indeed, the mission lived on in every act of compassion, reflecting the reminder: “The mission continued when we chose to serve with compassion.”
