Installation of the new DWCL President Rev. Fr. Nerio Joseph Artienda, SVD

19th DIVINE WORD COLLEGE OF LAOAG PRESIDENT LITURGICAL INSTALLATION RITE

July 28, 2017 a milestone of the Divine Word College of Laoag which marked the installation of the 19th President of the school and the launching of the theme for the  Diamond Jubilee year in 2021. The theme is “In the Divine Word College of Laoag, we make life brighter in the Light of the Word”:  The core values of INTEGRITY, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, EXCELLENCE, and EVANGELIZATION shall be the sub-theme  for each year prior to the jubilee celebration.

The celebration started with a processional headed by the school banner bearer, Mr. Jose Vallente Ballesteros, the Director of Student Affairs and the Philippine Flag bearer , the OIC of the Human Resource Department Mr. Alwyn Paulo Albano. The administrative staff, the Faculty and the college council in their academic regalia were made to prelude the procession of the mass servers and the celebrants of the Holy Eucharist.

The Vice President for Administration Bro. Alfredo B. Corton, SVD officially announced this school year as the Year of Integrity. He acknowledged the presence of the Father Provincial and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Rev. Fr. Romeo S. Fajardo, SVD, Vice Provincial and Campus Minister of DWCL, Rev. Fr. Edwin Fernandez, SVD., Fr. Fr. Teodisio Saluba, SVD, IT Head, Rev. Fr. Edsel Demillo, SVD, President, DWC VIGAN, Rev. Fr. Elmer Loreto, SVD, Treasurer, DWC VIGAN , Rev. Fr. Damianus Abun, SVD, Resident, DWCV, Rev. Fr. Augustine Villanueva, SVD, Resident, Retreat House Baguio, Rev. Fr. Nerio Joseph Artienda,SVD, President DWC LAOAG SVD., Rev. Fr. Denny D. Lucas, SVD, SBE Director DWCL, Rev. Fr. George De Castro, SVD, VP for Finance DWCL, Rev. Fr. June Ceasar Ragonjan, Diocese of Laoag, Rev. Fr. Anthony Dimagiba, Diocese of Laoag.

The main celebrant and the presider of the Installation is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees or the highest governing body of the SVD’s of the Northern Province, Rev. Fr. Romeo S. Fajardo, SVD, assisted by the Vice Provincial and the School Campus Minister, Rev. Fr. Edwin Fernandez, SVD who delivered the Gospel

In attendance too were representatives of Government Agencies like the CHED represented by Mr. Danilo Bose and TESDA represented by Ms. Shirley Pascua, Industry Partners, benefactors, the Alumni, students, pupils and the immediate family of the President

Participation in the readings and the offertory procession during the mass was extended to the students and key administrators and heads of offices.

The Father Provincial presided over the installation rite, read the letter of appointment of the President, and official turned over the responsibility to the New President. Symbolically in an academic processional the School Registrar, Ms. Janette Lazaro, carried the Mace, the Student Affairs Director, Mr. Jose Vallente Ballesteros, carried the School Banner, the Vice Presidents carried the Academic Regalia to include the Medallion by VP Romana L. Bitancor, the Cap by Dr. Gladys Jean Q. Basilio, the Holy Bible by Rev. Fr. George de Castro, SVD and the academic Gown by Bro. Alfredo B. Corton, SVD

The Father President expressed his readiness to accept the great responsibility to lead the institution for the next 3 years in fulfilling the mission of education apostolate

The Biography of the new president was delivered by Ms. Shey Pia Abaya of the Guidance Center

In full academic regalia the President delivered his Inaugural Speech

Fr. George de Castro, the new VP for Finance was likewise presented by the Fr. Provincial. Tasked to give Fr. De Castro’s biographical sketch was the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Gladys Q. Basilio

Concluding the ceremony were the symbolic commitments made by the Faculty, Personnel through a prayer-pledge led by Faculty-Personnel Association President Ms. Elizabeth Ruiz and Central Student Council President Norie Jane Rumbaoa

The Vice President for External Affairs provided the continuing thread of the ceremony as the Commentator
